Dr. Patricia Northover is a Fellow at the Sir
Arthur Lewis Institute of Social and Economic
Studies (SALISES). She specializes in the study of
contemporary issues in the philosophy of social
science, critical realism and economic methodology,
development theory and policy, sustainable rural
development, microeconomic policy and also
institutional economics. She received her doctorate
in economics at the University of Cambridge in 1995
but studied for her B.Sc. in Economics and
Management at the University of the West Indies,
where she attained first class honors. Dr. Northover
also holds a Masters degree from the Consortium
Graduate school and a Masters degree in Economics
from the University of Cambridge. Prior to her
appointment at SALISES (formerly ISER), Dr.
Northover was a Research Fellow at the University of
Cambridge, Girton College. . She is currently
engaged in research on the sugar industry in Jamaica
and globalization and agrarian change.
